Isoetes Velata Var. Sicula is still a relatively rare aquatic plant in the aquarium hobby due to its more complex process of propagation by spores. Also known as a quillwort, Isoetes Velata Var. Sicula is one of the few that is suitable for use as an aquatic plant in an aquarium setting. In the wild, Isoetes Velata Var. Sicula is found in wetlands, each with varying conditions such as cold bodies of water with little nutrition. Because of this, Isoetes Velata Var. Sicula is highly adaptable to a wide range of planted aquarium tank conditions, but it also a slow grower. Its foliage is compact and a rich green coloration that stands up, curved or straight. Not too much information is readily available regarding Isoetes Velata Var. Sicula. When used in aquaria, it would make a beautiful background aquatic plant choice in a variety of planted aquarium tanks.
