Cryptocoryne Petchii, also known as Cryptocoryne Becketii Petchii, is a beautiful smaller variety of Cryptocoryne Beckettii that originates from Sri Lanka. This aquatic plant features rich olive-brown tones and slightly fluted leaves with deep purple undersides. Like other varieties of Cryptocoryne, final size, color and overall form weighs heavily on the environment in which the plant is kept. This aquarium plant works well in low tech planted aquariums or in areas of a planted tank that are shaded by hardscape or light loving aquarium plant species. Like most Cryptocoryne species, Crypt Petchii does not prefer to be moved once planted so being mindful of this will go a long way in preventing Crypt melt. Crypt Petchii is generally easy to maintain once established in a planted aquarium and will grow at a steady pace. While it isn't required, most aquarium plants will enjoy and experience much better growth in a planted tank that is fully established and is provided with CO2 injection, quality planted aquarium soil, and quality lighting.
